Time Flies

LifesCanvasPhotography Spring2012Where has 2012 gone?  Is it me or does time truly fly by?  Perhaps it's an age thing - I never remember life speeding by so quickly when I was in college studying for a test.  Nor do I remember my teaching days buzzing by at the speed of light.   Bottom line?  There are new images to be displayed and maybe even discussed.  So without further babble, here are some Spring 2012 images I have taken recently.

We've had a very weird, warm weather pattern this spring, but flowers continue to bloom and display some amazing colors.  One of my favorite flowers is the Peony shown at left after what seemed like endless rain showers in the area.  Not only do they produce huge blooms, but their smell is very distinctive and aromatic - almost as aromatic as the Wisteria crawling all over the Arbor.

Azalea Bushes, Temple Bells, Double Knock Out Rose Bushes, Creeping Phlox, Peonies, Irises, Amaryllis, Asian Day Lilies, White Spirea, Clamatis, Petunias, Orchids, and Pansies abound in Western North Carolina!

Sit back, relax, and take a peek at the entire Spring 2012 display of flowers.

Calendar Time!

LifesCanvas NationalParks Yosemite 018LifesCanvas MacroMagic 023It's that time of year again when I take what I consider to be my best pictures from the year and compile them into a calendar.  What makes these calendars so unique?  Every year I include between 30 and 40 photos in the calendar, and not just a single picture for each month of the year.  I like creating these calendars because it helps me see if my skills as an amateur photographer have improved from one year to the next.  It also helps me take different photos instead of focusing on the same subject year after year.

Visiting places on my "bucket list" is a great way of adding new and interesting images to the calendar each year.  This year, I was fortunate enough to visit Wine Country in Northern California, Yosemite National Park, and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.  Wine country images won't be seen on this year's calendar, but I do continue to enjoy the bottles of wine that jumped in my luggage for the trip back home.  Being able to visit two National Parks in one year was very LifesCanvas For2012Calender 084special to me.

This will be the Fifth Annual Calendar I have created.  While I don't include the 2008 calendar images on the website, I do include images that were used from all previous calendars.  Click on any of the links to view images from years past.  Remember - when you order a calendar you also get a LifesCanvas For2012Calender 06free 5x7 print of any image on our website.  Banner images will not look right on 5x7 paper, so be sure to select your free print from anywhere else on the website.

Right now, I have selected 95 images for the 2012 Calendar.  Obviously that's WAY too many images, but I always make a first cut and then whittle away at the images until I get 35-40 images placed in the new calendar.  Click the link below to see what might (or might not) make the 2012 Calendar.

Calendars can be purchased for $20, which includes shipping and you can request one 5x7 print as a Holiday Bonus!

Fall Spectacular in the Mountains

LifesCanvas FallSpectacular 74LifesCanvas FallSpectacular 79It's that time of year again!  Time to get out and see the splendor of fall!  Unless you're a complete couch potato, enjoying the beauty the fall season has to offer is a great way to relieve stress and enjoy the outdoors.  October is a great time of year, not only because the leaves are displaying their personalities, but because there are outdoor festivals, cook-outs, and activities from sun up to sun down.

These photos were taken October 8th.  Many areas are still very green where the leaves are just now contemplating whether or not to show their true colors.  Other places along the Blue Ridge Parkway, and on Hwy 64 headed towards Lake Toxaway, were absolutely breaktaking and magnificent!  Leaf lookers were everywhere taking photos of the same splendid color show.

The Blue Ridge Parkway was showing off its diversity of color, depending on both the location and elevation.  In the higher elevations, the leaves were nearly all gone, but slightly lower the leaves seemed proud of their individuality.  Views hidden from the sun have not yet had the chance to turn either.

I am constantly amazed with the Fall Season - such gorgeous colors to behold.

Be sure to check out our entire line of fall foliage photos.  We love creating panoramic images from several photos.  This "stitching" of photos is the only way we modify our digital images.  What you see on our website is exactly what has been taken by the photographer.
